Print your painting – how to get the best result

Your painting deserves a great photo so we can print it in the best quality.

Sounds demanding, but it really is quite easy to achieve a great result. At Bruxelles Art Vue, we print high-quality art and photo albums. Obviously, the better your photos, the better your pages will look.

We frequently see artists with incredible paintings but have images that are shot in dimly lit, sloppy environments that distort the original artwork.

Knowing how to properly photograph your painting can mean the difference between being accepted to be printed.

Here is a simplified guide to having good quality photos of your painting to be printed in BAV:

  1. First of all – take it easy! If you do not have the best photos right away, send your entry anyway. After being selected you will have few days to provide better quality images.
  2. A photo that is ready for printing should have 300 dpi (dots per inch), therefore it would be best not to take a photo with a smartphone. Use a digital camera or DSLR.
  3. Try to take a photo in such a way that your painting will be parallel to where your camera will be – to avoid any angle distortion.
  4. Lighting – the best idea is to take a photo outside, in daylight, in a shadow (no direct sunlight on a painting). Also please remove any glass that covers your work.
  5. Camera settings: low ISO, high f-stop, autofocus – full-frame. The higher the number, the more noise you will get in the photo. Since we want very crisp images, we want a low ISO – 100, maximum 400. The f-stop of the aperture of your camera has an impact on the sharpness of a photo. The ideal range for shooting artworks is between f-8 and f-11.
  6. Photo editing – if you have doubts or it is not easily possible for you to edit the photos – just send it to us without editing, we can do it for you.
  7. In case of any doubts – contact us!

How to make the best out of Bruxelles Art Vue?

Bruxelles Art Vue focuses on promoting art. If you are an artist who would like to gain more audience, or you look for inspiration, or you are an art enthusiast – this is the place for you!

Here are 8 useful hints on how you can make the best out of Bruxelles Art Vue!

  • If you plan to apply, do it as soon as possible

We publish works of our candidates on BAV’s social media channels and also, sometimes, in our news feed. The sooner you apply, the sooner your works may be featured. It is free and easy – you do not need to pay without even knowing if you will be selected, and all we need at the beginning is up to 6 photos and simple data.

  • Subscribe to our news feed

Our news feed is all about sharing useful information. Updates on planned publications, reminders about deadlines, information on books and e-books being available. It will help you to stay up-to-date and not miss any opportunities.

  • Have a look at already published e-books

It is free and full of inspiring works. All we ask for is a simple registration. If you consider applying, such an e-book is a perfect way to see how your pages will look like.

  • If you are an art enthusiast or you run a gallery – help an artist near you!

It happens sometimes, that great talented artists do not really have a great talent for technology. If you know someone who creates great works but does not really follow social media and would not feel comfortable completing the web form themselves – you may apply in their name!

  • Are you wondering if there will be any edition matching your specific area of interest?

Check our planning page! Bruxelles Art Vue plans to publish several editions a year. The best thing is that you may apply in advance, and/or you may subscribe to our news feed to be informed when application collection will start.

  • Is English not your preferred language?

Would you prefer to be informed about Bruxelles Art Vue in another language? Or would you prefer your biography to be printed in your mother tongue? Both are easily possible! Our website, thanks to Google translate is available in many languages. In addition, we are very open to include texts in other languages than English. We believe that language is part of an artist’s identity and culture.

  • Don’t be concerned about your photos quality for printing.

Yes, there are certain requirements for photos to be of good quality for printing. But, we are here to help you. You are very welcome to ask us about the requirements and get some tips and best practices on how to make a good photo. Also, we have graphic designer and photo editor here and they take good care of your work!

  • Don’t let any doubts stop you!

Whenever you have any questions – just write to us. You will find the FB messenger link on our website, you may send an email to bav@bruxellesartvue.com or use the contact form.

The BAV’s Street Photography cover photo!

Here it is! It is a great pleasure to announce that the photo by Renata D’Angelo will be the BAV Street Photography 2021 book’s cover!

Years 2020 and 2021 will be forever marked by the pandemic. All parts of our lives have been impacted, we had to go through enormous changes. Life was and still is far from usual. And this photo shows how it feels not to be able to go on the street. How we all struggled to find ways to still experience life against all adversities.

Children that would normally enjoy sunny weather and fresh air playing outside, find the substitute on a balcony.

Yes, this is a photo that many would argue is not a real street photography photo. We have chosen it, as these times are also not usual times.

The BAV Street Photography book is now almost ready for printing!

We start to prepare for the next edition titled “Human Body is Art”. The entries are free as usual, and the deadline to apply is now set to the 25th of April. Find out more information here.

Congratulations to the selected artists!

The Bruxelles Art Vue Street Photography 2021 book is well on its way!

All the selected artists have been notified and now our talented graphic designer embarked on his mission to create a beautiful book.

If you are a last-minute type of artist, you may still submit your entry, but we cannot guarantee it will not be too late.

We have received many entries and the artistic level of works is very high. Some not easy decisions had to be made and we hope we can only encourage the photographers out there to keep shooting, stay creative and come back to us soon.

Speaking of which, I would like to invite you to our planning page. There are no concrete dates yet, but you may already have a look at editions we will work on later in 2021. The next topic is “Human Body is Art”! All creations related to our faces and bodies are welcome!

Here is a selection of some works of our selected artists:
